The Marina Bay Sands has three towers, 2500 rooms, a casino, an upscale shopping center, a 55-story high swimming pool and a price tag in the billions.

When Las Vegas Sands Corp. decided to open a luxury hotel in Singapore, grand visions were at hand. Many Singapore hotel options existed already, so this venture called for that little something extra. Not only would this Singapore resort offer fine dining, spacious accommodations and all the amenities that discriminating travelers have come to expect, this place has a pool. Make that an "Infinity Pool".

A Luxury Hotel in Singapore

In June of 2010, a two-day celebration marked the opening of the Marina Bay Sands. The facility is easily identified by its distinctive architecture. Not one, not two, but three 55-story towers rise from the street. The three are connected at the top by the Sands SkyPark, a 340-meter long floating oasis.

More than 2,500 rooms and suites are available to those who wish to spend the night at this Singapore resort. Room rates vary, and are based upon the size of the room and the level of decadence therein. Modestly priced rooms are equipped with everything from an ironing board to a pillow menu, while the suites might feature such mandatory vacation items as a baby grand piano, three bedrooms with walk-in closets and more than 500 square meters of floor space.

Of course, roaming around the suite in a luxury hotel such as this is hungry work. Happily, guests can get their grub on without a trip to Burger King. A variety of celebrity chefs have opened restaurants on the property, including Mario Batali. Batali will put his incredible culinary talents on display, in much the same way he does on the TV show, Iron Chef America.

After dining with Batali, Wolfgang Puck, or any of the other in-house chefs, guests might decide to try their luck at the casino. More than 1,600 slot machines and around 500 table games await, and it is possible that some good fortune could make the entire stay at this Singapore hotel gratis. Hey, it works for James Bond, doesn't it? Do keep one thing in mind: this is hardly the first casino that Las Vegas Sands Corp. has its fingerprints on, and they expect this one to bring in a billion dollars per year.

Sands SkyPark

After a few spins of the roulette wheel, a vodka martini might be in order. But first, a visit to the Sands SkyPark is a must. Complimentary to all guests, the Sands SkyPark is the top attraction to this Singapore hotel, literally.

At 200 meters above street level, the views of Singapore are breathtaking. Almost 4,000 people can tour the landscaped gardens, with 250 different types of trees and 650 types of plants helping create the atmosphere of an oasis in the ... atmosphere.

And the pool? At this Singapore hotel, that would be the Infinity Pool. At 150 meters in length, the pool features a vanishing edge, which creates the illusion that nothing keeps the water from falling to the street below, and that getting too close to this edge would be more dangerous than forgetting to tip the butler. Not to worry though; not even Bond himself could make the leap off of this edge.

And, there's no danger in a visit to the SkyPark observation deck, even if it is part of the world's largest public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north tower by about 200 feet.

Shopping at a Singapore Resort

It goes without saying that the guests at this luxury hotel wouldn't think about returning home without picking up some souvenirs, and Marina Bay Sands has thought of that too. From Agatha Paris to Swatch, from Burberry to Todai, the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands have probably got just about anything that a guest's heart could desire and they probably take cash.

Since this place cost about $6 billion to build, they might even take a check.
