Like many American cities, Miami hosts a huge amount of visitors each year. Some are in town for business and some for pleasure, but all are sure to enjoy the warm sunshine that seems to never leave town.
Whatever the reason for coming to Miami, it makes sense to have some transportation at the ready. After all, the attractions are spread out and who wants to burn up all that daylight walking or looking for a cab? This is a reason that car rentals are so popular with visitors. They can fly into town, hop in a rented car and go about their business. When it's time to go home, they take the car back to where they got it, and everybody is happy.
For those in the car rental business, a good place to offer their services is at the airport. And, the Miami International Airport is the first place the visitor can connect with Hertz Car Rental or several other national brands.
Miami Car Rentals
Many people opt to make their car rental arrangements prior to their arrival in Miami, and others will do so when they get to town. Either way, there are several national brands that offer car rental services at the airport in Miami:
- Hertz Car Rental – One of the bigger players in the game, Hertz Car Rental is a well known and trusted company. They offer car rentals in various sizes, like a Chevy Cobalt, which rents for less than $40/day.
- Avis Car Rentals – Another giant in the car rentals business, Avis Car Rentals offers a variety of vehicles, including a Ford Fusion, or similar sized car, that typically goes for around $55/day.
- Dollar Car Rental – Dollar might not be as widely known as Hertz or Avis, but they might be worth a look when on a tight budget. Some of their smaller cars, like a Hyundai Sonata can be rented for around $25/day, and often includes unlimited mileage.
Bigger and nicer cars are also available from Hertz Car Rental and the other companies. If visitors desire a Cadillac, or other car in this size/quality, Avis Car Rentals can rent it for around $120/day.
The airport is a popular place to pick up a rental car, but it certainly isn't the only option.
Enterprise Car Rentals
Enterprise Car Rentals is another option for the traveler without wheels. They have an outlet at the Miami International Airport, but like most other companies, they also have outlets around town. As their commercials on TV advertise, they will pick the renter up at the repair shop, or other locations. An economy car from Enterprise will typically cost in the $25-40/day range
Alamo Car Rentals is another car rental option. At the airport, the Port of Miami or near one of the beaches, Alamo makes car rental a convenient process. Miami is one of over 1000 places in the United States where Alamo is located, and much of the rental process can be done in advance, online.
Luxury Car Rentals
Sometimes, the visitor wants a car that doesn't look like a rental car. After all, this is Miami. When the vehicle in question must make a statement about the driver within, it's time to deal with a car rental place that specializes in exotic sports cars or luxury cars.
One such place in Miami is Auto Boutique, where luxury car rentals are only the beginning. They offer Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Maserati, Jaguar and almost any other form of transportation needed to make an impressive entrance. Granted, those $50/day car rental fees won't be found here (a Jaguar XK will go form more than $300/day), but that's why some people shop at Hertz and some don't.
So, decide which company to go with, see how many coins are in the piggy bank and choose the rental car that fits your needs. As frequent travelers to Miami know, renting a car can become a habit, and not a Miami vice.
